If you are coming from Tijuana on the Scenic toll road, you will enjoy the panoramic sites, you will see how coastal cliffs and soft  hillsides tumble one-to-one to blend into the blue sea. Upon arrival, El Mirador ( Rosarito to Ensenada Km 23) will first welcome with its beautiful panoramic view of Bahia Todos  Santos (All Saints Bay ), We recommend this site to watch the sunset and the ocean with their boats and Scallop and yellow fin tuna farms and excellent photo opportunities.

Follow the coastal highway all the way to the city about 20 minutes more and you will reach Boulevard Lázaro Cárdenas and Lopez Mateos Avenue the heart of downtown Ensenada .

In the area you will find emblematic sites as the Civic Plaza, with its sculptures of Mexican  heroes  and the huge Mexican flag and the Malecon (board walk) whose coastal access is the best place to admire the port activities (Blvd. Teniente Azueta 224) and the Naval cruise terminal (Blvd. Lázaro Cárdenas and AV. Castillo). From here you can contact small tourist barges  that will take from the old shipyard to archipelago (Isla Todos Santos) All Saints Island, on the way you will view the sea lions shelter.

Ensenada has a comprehensive tourism infrastructure to cater to its visitors. World-class hotels and resorts, excellent nightlife, fine restaurants and exclusive spa services are the guarantee of a wonderfull stay.

The typical flavors of the port can be found at the black market (Blvd. Lázaro Cárdenas, Teniente Azueta) a local favorite to eat delicious sea food or buy fresh caught fish and fresh seafood. Here, the sport fishing and the yacht rides aficionado can feel pleased, because apart from a beautiful sea they will find shops specializing in water sports equipment . The color and festive tradition of the Mexican culture is showcased near  by , the artisan Center (Blvd. Lázaro Cárdenas and Castillo Ave.) a good place to buy handicrafts from various regions of the country that are brought here.

Let your steps lead you to the Regional Historic Museum of Ensenada (Tue-Sun 10: 00 to 17: 00 hrs.) (Av. Gastélum and Virgilio Uribe.) where you will see a magnificent example of the cultural heritage and history of the port.

Built in 1887, its walls are dedicated hosting exhibitions of archaeological pieces (discovered in the State), as well as to present to our visitors the history of Ensenada.

Across the street you will find the Old Maritime customs building (Mon-Fri 9: 00 to 17: 00 hrs.) (Av. Rayerson and Virgilio Uribe) also a key part in the history of the city. Built in 1887, seasonally it  presents cultural and historical exhibits relating to Ensenada.

The exciting encounter with Ensenada’s past continues in the Centre for social civic and Cultural events Riviera (AV. Riviera and Blvd. Lázaro Cárdenas) declared by the United Nations historical heritage of Baja California.

Its history goes back to 1930, when opened named Hotel Beach Cove, busy by its spectacular decoration and casino. Rooms and buildings that made up this beautiful recreation complex, the construction style is a blend of Californian  and Neomudéjar, currently there are two event halls , a theatre and a bar. As you follow the outdoor gardens you will encounter   the Ensenada History Museum  (Mon-Sun   9: 30 to 14: 00 and 15: 00 to 5: 00 hrs.), displaying  various examples  belonging to indigenous cultures and the missionary time of the region’s history.

Great Food

If there is a destination in Baja California where you can find great culinary array it is in Ensenada. Don't leave without sampling fish and shrimp tacos or baked clams. Site of important National and State educational establishments, surrounded by  scenic beauty, Ensenada is a source of constant inspiration for knowledge and learning. The Ensenada Cultural Centre of the Arts (Mon-Fri 9: 00 to 12: 00 Hrs., and 15: 00 to 19: 00 hrs.) Sat 15: 00 to 19: 00 hrs. Sun 12: 00 to 18: 00 Hrs. Blvrd. Lázaro Cárdenas and AV. Club Rotario, Phone 01 (646) 173 4307.) And the Museo de Ciencia Caracol (Tue – Fri 9: 00 to 17: 00 hrs.) Sat 12: 00 to 17: 00 hrs. (Av. Reforma and 10th street ) are two great samples of the cultural development of the city, and two interesting alternatives to visit with the family. Together with many art galleries distributed through the streets of Ensenada, make this a tight schedule cultural destination.

Set aside a time to visit the St. Bodegas Santo Tomas (Mon-Sun 8: 00 to 18: 00 hrs.) (Miramar and 6th Street.) Here you will find products from Baja Califonia oldest wine maker. And don't leave without visiting the spectacular viewpoint of La Bufadora (34 km to the South by the federal 1) site where sea breaks its waves against a cliff, producing a Jet which rises up to 30 meters.

At night, a great end to your visit; is Hussong Cantina' s (AV. Ruiz and AV. Lopez Mateos), the epicenter of local nightlife since 1892, when it was opened by the German immigrant Johann Hussong. It is the oldest cantina in the Peninsula of Baja California, to date its original style and atmosphere takes you back to the end of 19th century.

Fun in the great outdoors

If your decision is to take the road to San Felipe or federal 1, a few kilometers will find a good number of ranches with recreational options such as hiking, horse riding or cycling, swimming pools, cabins, fish in lakes and sites for camping. If you intend to play golf like a Pro, a short distance from Ensenada there are magnificent courses for example Baja country club (10 km to the South by federal highway 1) or Bajamar Oceanfront Golf Resort (33 km north of Ensenada, by the scenic toll road), including hotel and real estate developments. Either will be a pleasant challenge to the golf enthusiast.
