Valle de Guadalupe [Guadalupe Valley]
The Valle de Guadalupe is located just 20 minutes away from the seaport of Ensenada; it is internationally recognized due to its wine quality and the production volume, that represents 95% of the total national table wine. You will find international winery industries in their fields, as well as minor companies that carefully perform a production process of selected wine. From May to October, the valley is a spectacle with its uniform rows of grapevines, and all year round you can visit the wineries, walk through their premises and learn about the wine making process.
The Valle de Guadalupe has a rich historic legacy, which among very few places, is inhabited by natives since the missionary times and from the earlier years of the 20 th Century. In an area that has not only fed the grapevine, but also the families who have defined the development of this beautiful valley.
The natives’ presence is shown by the two Kumiai group communities existing in the zone: San José de la Zorra and San Antonio Necua. You will learn about their traditions, costumes, craftmanship and stories that have been transmitted from one generation to another.
Access:
By the Tijuana-Ensenada scenic road, when viewing El Sauzal, take to the east in the cross-road with the road to Tecate. Go on for 25 minutes until reaching the village of Francisco Zarco . If coming from the Tecate-Ensenada Road at Km. 73, you may watch for the Valle de Calafia vineyards; following the same route, at Km. 76, Francisco Zarco is located.
