MUSEUMS
There are several museums in Baja California that include various artistic disciplines and reflect the human spirit. Following is a list of 15 local museums that focus upon the culture and history of Baja California.
Museo de las Californias
Located in the Tijuana Cultural Center, (CECUT), this museum features a permanent exhibit on the history of the State, from its pre-Hispanic origins to the 20 th Century. The Cultural Center is the home of Baja California’s Orchestra and has an Omnimax Cinema, a theater, a bookstore, coffee shop and other spaces for temporary exhibitions. Open Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., last entrance at 6:15 p.m.

Ensenada Regional History Museum
Considered one of the oldest public buildings in the state of Baja California, the building previously served as the headquarters of a military company. It once housed barracks, public offices and a jail. Today it presents an interesting exhibit of the indigenous and colonial past of Ensenada. Open Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Ensenada History Museum
Riviera del Pacífico: Social, Civic and Cultural Center. In 1920, the UN declared this building an historical landmark of Baja California . The old casino and hotel is now a museum of indigenous cultures and several halls representative of the original opulence. Open daily 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.

"El Asalto a las Tierras" Community Museum
It shows an outdoor display of Cucapá houses and some traditional agricultural instruments.

Ejido Michoacán de Ocampo, Valle de Mexicali, B.C.
Take Federal Highway 2 ( Mexicali - San Luis Río Colorado ) until Km 25 (Ejido Hidalgo ). From there take the road south until you arrive at Ejido Michoacán de Ocampo.
Cucapá, Community Museum "Juan Garcia Aldama"
It has a collection of replicas of the rooms according to the Cucapá tradition, as well as historical photographs and objects. Open Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Located at the native Cucapá town, “El Mayor”. 57 km south of Mexicali, on Federal Highway Mexicali-San Felipe.
Valle de Guadalupe History Museum
It exposes traditional objects of the Kumiai culture and the ancient Russian settlers of the region. Open Tuesday to Sunday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Km 78 of Federal Highway 3 Tecate – Ensenada, take the main street of the town of Valle de Guadalupe in the Francisco Zarco delegation. The museum is in the old Russian Colony, on that same street, almost in front of the Communitarian Museum of the Valle de Guadalupe.
Valle de Guadalupe Community Museum
Located in an old house of one of the Russian settlers, it exposes traditional objects of the Kumiai culture and the ancient inhabitants of the region. It also has a crafts sale. Km 78 of Federal Highway 3 Tecate – Ensenada, take the main street of the town of Valle de Guadalupe in the Francisco Zarco delegation. The museum is in the old Russian Colony on that same street, almost in front of the Valley of Guadalupe History Museum.
“Wa Kuatay” Local Museum
The name of this museum, in Kumiai, means “big house of the great chief” It shows the history of Rosarito, as well as temporary exhibitions. Open Tuesday to Sunday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

With exhibitions and a park for kids, this museum offers a variety of interactive programs about the culture and natural history of the Baja California border region.

Ex Aduana Marítima de Ensenada
One of the oldest buildings of the State, it now presents cultural and historical temporary exhibitions. Open Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Estero Beach, Museum
This space contains a permanent exhibition that represents 40 Centuries of Mexican Culture. Located within the Tourist Complex Estero Beach Resort in Ensenada, B.C.
"Altagracia A. de Arauz" Community Museum
Displays a replica of a Cucapá house and exhibits traditional agricultural instruments and many objects reflective of the Cucapá way of life in this quiet village. Located 90 Km south of Ensenada and 110 Km north of San Quintín through Federal Highway 1 (Transpeninsular), in the town of El Rosario.
"El Rosario" Community Museum
Located 250 km south of Ensenada in the town of El Rosario, through Highway 1 (Transpeninsular), in the central plaza of the town of San Vicente Ferrer, next to the Municipal Delegation.
Natural History Museum of Bahía de Los Angeles
Here you can admire botanical gardens, historical photographs and exhibitions of mining and marine devices of the region. You can also find a library, a gift shop and an educational community center. Located 530 Km Southeast of Ensenada in the town of Bahía de los Ángeles. Open Monday thru Sunday; 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and 3:00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m.
Calafia Historical and Cultural Center
The Hotel Calafia displays a wide variety of archaeological replicas from pre-historic and pre-Hispanic cultures, along with California Missions as well as replicas of cave paintings.
