Passengers traveling by air
The main airport in Baja California is located in Tijuana and it has the fourth place in traffic in the country. In 2005 it received nearly 3,500,000 passengers.
Without a doubt an extremely important segment is the one that corresponds to tourists travelling in their own private airplanes, and, of course, they are characterized by having a high socioeconomic status.

As far as charter planes are concerned, they have had a steady increase since 1997 considering the fact that in 1998 they experienced a slight decrease from which they recovered in 1999.

During the last decade, the arrivals of cruise liners to Baja California has almost doubled and it is expected that this segment will continue to grow in the next few years.
Baja California welcomes more than 28,000 tourists each month by sea, occupying the second place in the country.

Origin
Three out of four tourists that arrive at Baja California come from the United States; two of them are from the state of California while 1 in four tourist that enter Baja California travel from within the state or from one state to another within Mexico. The main cities of origin within California are San Diego, Los Angeles, the Imperial Valley and San Francisco.
Two thirds of all tourists that come to Baja California are young people, between the ages of 15 and 24.
3 out of nine travelers that arrive in Baja California do it in pairs, three more travel in groups of 3 or 4 persons, 2 travel alone and only 1 in groups composed of more than 5 individuals.
