TIJUANA'S CESAR SALAD
In 1940, a group of pilots was lodged in the “Hotel César” located in the famous Revolution Ave. in the city of Tijuana, who upon coming back quite late one night, ordered something for dinner, but they were told the kitchen was already closed and there was nothing left but lettuce. They asked to have a simple salad fixed, which was made by Chef Livo Santini, and it became a treat highly appreciated and celebrated by the pilots that night, therefore the salad was named at that time as “Pilot Salad”.
Furthermore, César Cardini, owner of the famous hotel named himself as the creator of the famous “Cesar Salad”, keeping its creation in a professional way.
Today, “Cesar Salad” is served in restaurants throughout the world. The original recipe may be tasted in the actual “Hotel César” located in the city of Tijuana between Revolution Ave. and 6 th Street at the city’s downtown.
