BAJA CALIFORNIA BEER
Cervecería [Brewery] Tecate
 |
With 60 years of history, speaking of Tecate beer is like speaking of a national symbol. Its familiar red and golden colors, and the styled symbol of a black eagle and the Cuchumá hill, are actually found in every corner of the stores, restaurants and bars of Baja California and the north of the country.
It all started in 1944 when Alberto Aldrete changed an old building built in 1929, which had been used to produce vegetable oil, into a brewery, thus creating what we know now and taking the name of the municipality he was born in. Later on, in 1954, Cervecería Tecate was sold to Grupo Cervecero Cuauthémoc, originally from Monterrey, Nuevo León, thus being part of the country’s most important and biggest brewing groups. |
Currently, cervecería Tecate is a historic site, offering guided tours in the premises, where you may watch the beer museum, the way of producing 20 million litters of beer per month in the 24 tank with an approximate capacity of 900,000 litters and where it is possible to package 4,000 cans per minute; and to enjoy a delicious and frothy beer, as well as strolling through the gardens that adorn the plant.
